Four-letter words have a bad rap. In some cases, deservedly so.
But not in all cases.
I was thinking yesterday morning of 2 four-letter words that are not only wonderful, but seemingly inseparable.
God proclaims His love for His people, throughout history and the written word. But a most tangible expression tied to it is His promise to be with those whom He loves. God’s love is not some ethereal abstraction. It involves presence. Even in the deepest waters.
If I love my wife and my children (& friends, &…) then that dedication takes tangible shape by being present. Absence may make the heart grow fonder. But presence is where fondness is displayed.
The old Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song (showing my age here) told us to “Love the One you’re With.” Let us butcher the English language for a moment and be sure that we “With the One(s) we Love.”
